Fuel Surcharge Program

Rolloffs Hawaii, LLC provides our customers with a great overall value of the highest quality recycling and waste services on Oahu.  We are constantly working to improve our service, contain our operating costs, and develop cleaner methods and solutions to reduce our overall environmental impact.  However, the extraordinary volatility in the price of fuel/oil is not within our control. Therefore, we looked for a fair and equitable way of introducing a program to recover our cost when fuel is increasing, but also reduce your cost as the price of fuel decreases. That’s why we implemented a fuel surcharge program like the majority of transportation companies across the U.S and the world today.

How the program works

For our fuel surcharge program, we use an independent diesel fuel price index. The price of diesel fuel is based on Honolulu Diesel Fuel Prices as reported by honolulugasprices.com. Diesel prices are updated, normally within 24 hours, by tracking the actual average retail diesel prices on the island of Oahu. For your reference and convenience, current diesel prices can be viewed by clicking on the following link www.honolulugasprices.com. The fuel surcharge included with your invoice will be updated each month. The fuel surcharge for the month is determined by taking the peak weekly diesel price per gallon for the preceding month and applying the corresponding percentage from the Rolloffs Hawaii Fuel Surcharge Index. But as a benefit to our customers, we do not charge you for the retail price of diesel. We charge you based on a discounted price because we get a volume discount of approximately 13-15 % from our supplier. We then use the discounted price to calculate the fuel surcharge and pass those savings directly to you, our valued customer. We are also very proud of the fact that our fuel surcharge index is significantly lower than the normal industry wide fuel surcharge programs, such as Waste Management or Republic Services.
